Goalkeeper training is free and open to all Michigan Stars Lightning players. Overseen by our Club GK Coach Doug Cardosi, goalkeeper training is tailored to appropriate ages and stages covering technique training and learning and enhancing skill application. 

Coach Doug has over three decades of experience coaching goalkeepers. He holds his USSF B License, USC Advanced Goalkeeper Diploma and Youth National Diploma.  Throughout his career he has worked with both genders of goalkeepers ranging from youth players to professionals. He has also worked with several clubs, high schools and colleges. He also is a Midwest Regional GK Coach (boys and girls) with ODP and started and ran his own PAWS Goalkeeper Academy for 16 years.  

His coaching philosophy centers around four criteria: comfort with the ball, leadership, presence, and shot-stopping. Focusing on these key areas helps goalkeepers achieve their full potential by developing technically proficient, tactically sound, and athletic goalkeepers.​
